Cloth Diapers for Safety and Savings
July 26th, 2009 by adminThroughout the history of mankind, the use of Cloth Diaper has been known as one of the necessities in child care. Usually made of layers of fabric such as micro fibers or cotton material, cloth diapers are inexpensive and practical to use since they can be washed and reused for multiple times.
Since the use of cloth diapers spread in Europe and North America during the 19th century, mothers no longer need to anticipate their children’s bowel movements to avoid mess or sanitary concerns in their area. Over the years, as mankind tend to adapt to its ever changing environment, disposable diapers were invented for the convenience of modern women who have careers to attend to aside from taking care of their families.
Although with the fact that disposable diapers are made for convenience, the decision of using one rather than a cloth diaper raised controversies owing to concerns ranging from practicality, health, and cost, to issues of its effect to the environment. Since cloth diapers don’t use chemical materials to absorb urine, it is not a threat to the baby’s sensitive skin provided that it is changed immediately when it is full and can no longer hold any more waste to avoid rashes.
Being reusable, cloth diapers are also perfect for cost-cutting moms. The money saved from using cloth diapers instead of disposables in a year could amount to a total enough to buy more important things such as new clothes for the child or even a supply of milk.
